Best Mattress for Stomach Sleepers

Some habits are hard to break. Take sleeping on your stomach for example. It isn’t considered the best position to sleep, but we know that any way you fall asleep and stay asleep is a good way. That’s why we’ve broken down into categories the qualities that make a mattress perfect for stomach sleepers. Keeping the following factors in mind can help stomach sleepers get an even better sleep without the struggle of breaking any habits.

Pillow

Before we talk about mattresses, it should be noted that sleeping with a pillow can make all the difference. Stomach sleepers should place put a small pillow under their abdomen to help keep their spine in alignment. Little tricks like this can help your body rest better when sleeping on your stomach.

Support

Proper support is so important for stomach sleepers to help prevent pain in the lower back and spine. Your back and hips need to be supported so you’re able to fall asleep in a comfortable position on your stomach. Premium foam mattresses like The Jupiter+ with 10 inches of foam are ideal for stomach sleepers because they adjust to your body’s position.

Firmness

Mattress firmness is key in determining the perfect mattress for those who sleep on their stomachs. Stomach sleepers should avoid extra soft mattresses; sinking too far into the bed will be uncomfortable and can potentially lead to back problems.  If a mattress is too soft, it can also lead to misaligning your spine. You want to sleep on a mattress, not in it. A medium firm to firm mattress such as The Jupiter+ (medium firmness) and The Saturn+ (medium-firm firmness) is the best choice.

Air flow

Sleeping on your stomach can cause heat to become trapped, and no one wants to wake up drenched in sweat. That’s why it’s important to have a breathable mattress. Many foam mattresses tend to sleep hot, but Eight’s unique foam combinations allow for proper air flow.

Pressure relief/Contour

Nobody wants to experience pain when sleeping, no matter what sleep position you prefer. When sleeping on your stomach, it’s especially important that a mattress provides pressure relief. In order to prevent spine misalignment, choose a mattress that consists partly of  contouring memory foam such as the The Jupiter + that also supports the hips and back.

Size

Mattress size may seem irrelevant when picking the right mattress for stomach sleepers, but it can actually play a factor in sleep. Sleepers who tend to curl up into a ball don’t need as much room as stomach sleepers, so a full size bed will likely be roomy enough for them. For stomach sleepers who tend to spread out their arms and legs, a queen or king sized bed is probably needed. If you sleep with a partner, you might also want to consider a cali king.

You may sleep on your stomach, but you shouldn’t get a knot in it when it comes to picking the right mattress. With layers of support and the right firmness, The Jupiter + and The Saturn+ are both great options for stomach sleepers (not to mention they’re out of this world comfortable!).
