Mattress contains a fire retardant barrier to comply with regulations. This material, otherwise known as an FR sock, is a fabric that encases our materials. It helps to smother and subdue a potential fire from spreading. Each of the four foams are CertiPUR-US certified. They meet program standards for content, emissions, and durability, and are analyzed by independent, accredited testing laboratories. CertiPUR-US approved foams are: made without ozone depleters, PBDE flame retardants, mercury, lead and other heavy materials; made without formaldehyde, phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission; have low VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions for indoor air quality (<0.5 parts per million).
